Led by Dan the Shoe Man, who brings over 15 years of expertise in shoe construction, proper shoe fitting, and understanding how footwear relates to foot issues and concerns, we believe the right pair of shoes can transform both comfort and overall foot health.
Led by Dan & Our Certified Pedorthist, Rob Dan’s deep knowledge of how shoes are built and how they should fit — especially for customers with foot pain or unique needs — is the foundation of our service. Working alongside him, Rob, our certified Pedorthist, provides advanced expertise in foot mechanics, orthotics, and shoe modifications. Together, Dan and Rob lead our team in delivering shoes that combine style, comfort, and the right support for your feet.
Specialized Training and Tools Our staff receives extensive training with professional measuring devices, including the Brannock Device and modern 3D scanning technology. These tools allow us to capture precise foot measurements — length, width, and arch height — to ensure a customized fit that goes beyond standard sizing.
Expertise in Foot Abnormalities Every foot is different. Our team is trained to recognize and accommodate conditions such as bunions, hammertoes, plantar fasciitis, and high arches, ensuring the shoes we recommend provide relief and long-lasting comfort.

Meet The Team
Dan The Shoe Man
After a successful 20-year career in banking in both New York and Charlotte, Dan and his wife Lisa recognized a need in the Charlotte community for something different—a true size-and-width shoe store that brought back the traditional sit & fit experience.
In 2011, they opened their first SAS Concept Shoe Store, built on the idea that customers deserve expert guidance, proper fit, and genuine care. As the needs of their customers grew, so did the business—expanding the footwear selection in 2022 and then taking it a step further with the addition of a Pedorthic Center in 2024.
Today, Dan believes the store offers something truly unique: a level of service and personalized care that stands apart in the Charlotte market.
His mission has always been clear:

Rob
Rob is a clinically trained and Licensed Pedorthist (LPed) whose expertise goes far beyond credentials—it’s reflected in the way he evaluates, understands, and solves complex foot issues. With advanced training in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and a wide range of foot pathologies, Rob approaches every patient by first listening and identifying the true source of the problem, not just the symptoms.
He carefully connects all the factors affecting how a person walks—foot structure, movement patterns, footwear, and lifestyle—to develop a solution that actually works. The result is custom orthotics that are thoughtfully designed for each individual, including the right structure, materials, and support needed to improve comfort, stability, and mobility.Respected by leading orthopedic specialists in the Charlotte area, Rob brings that same level of care and precision to every patient—helping people move better, feel better, and return to the activities they enjoy.
Susan
With 12 years at Dan the Shoe Man’s Shoe Shop & Pedorthic Center, Susan brings a unique blend of care and expertise to every fitting. Prior to joining the store, she worked as a CNA, giving her a deep understanding of mobility challenges and the importance of proper support.
Susan was also fortunate to be trained by a “lifelong shoe dog,” gaining extensive knowledge in proper fit, footwear construction, and matching the right shoe to each individual’s needs.
What she enjoys most is surprising customers—helping them discover a shoe they didn’t think would work or a level of comfort and support they didn’t expect. Those moments are what make her job truly rewarding.

Angela
With over 30 years of customer service experience, including time in management, Angela brings knowledge, care, and professionalism to every customer interaction. For the past 2+ years, she’s been a valued part of the team at Dan the Shoe Man’s Shoe Shop & Pedorthic Center.
Angela’s favorite part of her job is helping people = especially those with mobility challenges - find real comfort and support. She takes pride in making a meaningful difference in how people move and feel every day.

Michele
With over 30 years of retail experience across a wide range of roles, Michele brings deep knowledge, versatility, and a true passion for helping customers. For the past 2+ years, she’s been an important part of the team at Dan the Shoe Man’s Shoe Shop & Pedorthic Center.
What Michele enjoys most about her work is how the store bridges the gap between footwear and personalized care. She loves being part of a place that brings back a true community feel, where customers receive one-on-one attention and solutions tailored to their individual needs.
